Merlin Shakaj is an accomplished flutist and a dedicated flute instructor whose passion for music has been evident since the age of 10.
Her musical journey began at the prestigious Jordan Misja Music Liceum, where she meticulously honed her skills before furthering her education at the University of Arts in Tirane, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Flute Performance.
In her pursuit of excellence, Merlin continued her studies at the esteemed Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, where she obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Flute Performance.
With over a decade of experience, Merlin has captivated audiences and inspired students alike with her exceptional virtuosity and musicality.
As a sought-after educator, she has been shaping the next generation of flutists since 2017, currently serving as a faculty member at Oxfordshire County Music Service and recently Shiplake College.
Her professional journey has taken her to prestigious stages around the globe.
As principal and second flute with the Radio and Television Orchestra of Albania, she collaborated with acclaimed conductors and delved into a diverse and enriching repertoire.
Her versatility and artistry have also been showcased with notable ensembles, including the Welsh National Opera in Cardiff and the Trinity Laban Symphony Orchestra.
Beyond music, Merlin finds joy and inspiration in gardening, drawing creative fuel from the beauty of nature. An avid traveler, she revels in exploring new cultures and experiencing the world’s richness.
